The Music
Curriculum for Key Stage 3 is planned by the coordinator in line
with Nelson Thornes- Sounds of Music Scheme, with appropriate
amendments to suit the individual needs of the pupils.
We aim to ensure that
listening skills, and applying knowledge and understanding, are
developed through the interrelated skills of performing,
composing and appraising.

Pupils in Key Stage
3 receive 1 x45 mins lesson per week. |

Pupils in Key Stage
4 have the opportunity to select Music as an option for 1x90
min lesson per week. |
The curriculum is
delivered through topics or units of work in half- termly blocks

In addition some pupils
have the opportunity to play instruments through specialist
teachers who are employed by the school. These include drums,
guitars and hopefully soon keyboards.
In addition to these
Topics, all pupils have the opportunity to take part in
performances for a Christmas Celebration and a Charity Concert
that are shared with parents and friends.
We also traditionally
take part in the Special Schools Christmas Concert held at
Portsmouth Cathedral.
